Kenya’s Christian Clerics have dismissed new claims by a Harvard historian Karen King that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene.
The Catholic and Protestant ministers yesterday said the claims are baseless because nowhere in the Bible, which is the reference for the Christian faith, is it written that Jesus Christ had a wife.
Karen King, a professor at Harvard Divinity School, claimed that she identified a faded, 4th century fragment of papyrus in which Jesus made reference to his wife.
One line in the torn fragment of text purportedly reads;
“Jesus said to them;" My wife……” another line states;”…… she will be able to be my disciple.”
