Ali Hassan Joho has denied that a former Sonu leader is his adviser. The Mombasa governor was reacting to claims on social media that Owino was his adviser on county government matters. Joho responded to the claims through a tweet on January 4.
“I have no adviser that goes by that name (Babu Owino/ Paul Ongili). Kindly get me more details on him. Thanks for the heads up,” Joho twitted.
Babu declined to comment when reached by Campus Vibe correspondent. Owino chaired Sonu between 2011-2012. He is currently studying law at the University of Nairobi.
He has said he will run for chairman again. Owino has promised financial support ranging from campaign T-shirts and posters to those who will vie with his endorsements.
A post on the University of Nairobi’s Facebook Group ‘Comrades Forum’ – reportedly run by Owino’s ‘righthand man’ Ndege Serikal – promised between Sh50, 000 and Sh400,000 to those who will endorse the law student. Students claim he is a millionaire and in the last Nairobian edition (January 10-16), he denied that he deals in illegal drugs.
