Ten suspects have been arrested over the killing of Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor's parents in the wee hours of Friday morning.
The MP's parents were attacked while in their home and tortured with blunt objects before their house was set ablaze while they were still inside.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku said arrests had been made and that the government would get to the bottom of the matter during a meeting he had with locals over cattle rustling on Saturday, .
“The issue of Owuor’s parents came up during the public rally between Kisumu and Nandi boundaries over cattle rustling and the Cabinet Secretary revealed that some arrests had been made,” said Interior Ministry Communications Director Mwenda Njoka.
He also added that locals want the law amended to make sure that suspects and other hardcore criminal do not easily get away with their offences because they can get bail.
“There is no offence that is not bailable at the moment and locals see the need to change these laws so that you can’t get bail in some instances. And then there is also the fear that witnesses have after a suspect is released on bail,” explained Njoka.
