FORMER Vice President Michael Wamalwa's children seeking help from the government

FORMER Vice President Michael Wamalwa's daughter wants the government to help her pay school fees for her siblings.

Alice Wamalwa, the second eldest of Wamalwa's five children said her younger brothers—William Wamalwa and William Wamalwa Junior—are unable to further their education owing to lack of fees.

She told the Star that William, 26, dropped out of university of Nairobi while William (Junior) is unable to pursue higher education abroad.

“Things are not working for us because the government's offer to support our education was never fulfilled. Ours is a humble plea to the government to consider helping out,” Wamalwa told the Star.

Wamalwa died on August 23, 2003, eight months after assuming the vice presidency.

Junior now 19 was 9 years then while William, now 26, was 16 at the time.

The problems in Wamalwa's family became public last year after Alice and William sued their stepmother Yvonne Wamalwa for Sh8 million allegedly given to her on behalf of the two Williams after their father died.

They also wanted the court to compel Yvonne to account for Sh3.4 million which they claim was found in their father’s briefcase at the time of his death in London.
