Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto
Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto have finally been served with suit papers by the International Center for Policy and Conflict (ICPC).

The civil society group wants a court to rule on whether Uhuru and Ruto can hold a public office with charges of crimes against them.

A statement from the ICPC Executive Director, Ndung'u Wainainan read:”Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto have finally been served with a petition, which International Center for Policy and Conflict wants a Court to rule on whether any one charged with any crime is fit to hold a public office.”

The two who are members of the Jubillee alliance were served with the court papers at 4.32 pm while leaving from Kitui Stadium atop a pick up car after addressing a public rally at Kitui Town.

Uhuru and Ruto however declined to acknowledge receipt of petition by appending their signatures respectively.

The statement added the subject is coming for a mention on Wednesday December 19, 2012 before Justice David Majanja.

Earlier on, attempts to serve the duo with the suit papers had hit a snag when lawyers were unable to reach the two politicians.

The case filed late last month had been adjourned twice to enable the petitioner access Uhuru and Ruto and serve them with documents.

Uhuru and Ruto are facing charges of crimes against humanity arising from the 2007-2008 post-election violence at the International Criminal Court (ICC), The Hague.
