Kalonzo said the September 17 by-elections were fraught with serious malpractices and asked the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to act faster and avert a disaster waiting to happen in the upcoming general action.
“I call upon the IEBC to conduct a thorough probe on what transpired during the by- elections particularly in Matinyani ward, where there was open bribery and intimidation,” the VP said.
He however, thanked the people of the ward for rejecting all forms of bribery and the huge amounts of money they were exposed to but still voted for his Wiper Democratic Party candidate Antony Kyalo Muthui.
Kalonzo said the Wiper Party’s win in Kitui and Machakos was a reassurance that the party enjoys massive popularity in the region.
The VP urged the Kamba Community to desist from being divided by Water Minister Charity Ngilu who is working for Prime Minister Raila Odinga to divide Kamba votes.
