Residents of Otongolo in Kisumu County yesterday found a one year old baby girl who had been thrown away at a roadside in the area. Apparently residents found her crawling and eating insects.
A man rescued the baby and is keeping her custody the baby’s mother claims her. According to the Good Samaritan Mr. Julius Onjiko the baby is suspected to have been thrown away by a barren woman who is feared to have stolen a child.
The woman is said to be childless and had ran away for a period of one week, on her return she was accompanied by a small baby girl and lied to her husband that she had delivered the baby while she was away.
Her husband ambushed her and embarrassed her in front of neighbors claiming that she had stolen the baby and she has never been pregnant. The woman is alleged to have walked away from her home in shame and left the young baby at the roadside.
Police are investigating the matter and hunting for the woman for questioning.
