Friday, September 07, 2012 - A two year old baby was yesterday pronounced dead while another escaped death by a whisker after boiling water was spilled on them leading to the severe injuries. It is alleged that the parent was preparing chang’aa at their Kiriko village in Teso North District when the incident happened.
According to neighbors, the children’s parents were preparing chang’aa at the home’s kitchen when the children who were playing hit the tank that was being used to boil the chang’aa. The tank fell on them burning them severely.
The two aged 2 and 5 were rushed to hospital and one of them declared dead at Bungoma District Hospital. The other child is still in critical condition and has at least 60% of burns.
David Ogirakol the children’s father denied allegations that they were preparing chang’aa…….. he is also a village elder.
