A Swahili teaching highlighting the importance of respecting and obeying your parents ruled the day yesterday at a court in Embu after a mother withdrew a title deed she had deposited at the court for a Sh. 200,000 bond her son was to be released on.
Esther Njuru said her son who had been alleged to have defiled an eight year old girl did not deserve to be free and she preferred him in jail than at large. According to her, her son needed to be taught a lesson against his beastly acts.
The court heard that on Monday Boniface Murimi had accosted the young girl and severally defiled her, he was cornered by residents hours later and arrested.
Senior Resident Magistrate Robinson Oigara requested the prosecution to punish Murimi after he failed to appear in court in time leading to his mother’s fury.
Murimi will be in remand until October 4 when the case will be heard.
