After stepping down following allegations of corruption in the ministry of devolution, Ann Waiguru has finally spoken about her net worth. During an exclusive interview with Royal Media’s Citizen Television, Waiguru revealed that she is worth Ksh. 160 million and her liabilities amount to Ksh. 80 million. Speaking to Hussein Mohammed, the former cabinet secretary claimed that she did not benefit from the National Youth Service corruption proceeds, contrary to popular belief.
She alleges that she had acquired most of her wealth even before joining NYS. She went ahead to say that she was living in Runda Estate and driving a Mercedes Benz even before joining the government. She refuted claims that she had bought three houses in cash and that her son owned an Austin Martin. She was also clear on her mode of dressing. Apparently she does not buy shoes worth more than 2,500 KSH and she has owned the same jewelry she puts on for the past six or seven years.
Previously, Waiguru worked with the World Bank where she was serving as the assistant vice president at Citi bank Group. When she was asked whether she would accept the government to conduct a lifestyle audit, Waiguru said that EACC officers were already doing so and they had picked some important documents from her house.
