In an interview with one of the local dailies, Raila, who was bashed by Obama during his three day stay in Kenya, said the Jubilee Government misled Obama into believing that they are fighting corruption and they are not.
Raila said Obama would not have lauded the Jubilee administration’s efforts had he stayed longer to hear of the loss of billions of shillings in Government reported by the Auditor-General Edward Ouko.
“I fault him (Mr Obama) on that. There is a stark contrast of the picture that came out and the reality,” Raila Odinga said.
However, Raila said the country reaped big from the visit which saw global business leaders converge in Nairobi, some scouting for innovative entrepreneurs they can support.
“His visit has given Kenya positive publicity on the global stage. Our hope is that this will help revive our shattered tourism industry and give the youth and women more economic opportunities,” said Raila.
He also pleaded with Obama to ensure he fulfils what he promised Kenyans before the end of his tenure in 2016.
