Kayole Matatu Voted Best Overall Bus During The 'Nganya' Awards (PHOTO + LIST OF WINNERS)

A Kayole bus, Tela Bang, was on Sunday voted the best matatu in Nairobi during the Nganya awards held at KICC. The 49-seater matatu wowed the judges with its colours, graphics and lighting.

Double M Commuter Services scooped the best bus operator in the Central Business District award, while Spanish (La Face) emerged top in the Mombasa bound bus category.

Categories in which votes were cast included the best Sacco, driver, conductor, most compliant route etc.

Best design: Blacklist (formerly Jabulani/Chicago Bulls: Rongai route 125)
Best CBD bus operator: Double M Commuter Service

Best 25-seater: Hustler (Maringo route 10)
Best 29-37-seater: Rolling Stone (BuruBuru route 58)
Best 49-seater: Tela Bang (Kayole route 19-60)
Best 51-seater: Mayhem (Githurai route 45)
Best crew: Ciroc (BuruBuru route 58)
Best Mombasa bound bus: Spanish (La Face)
Best Auto Garage: Moha Graffix (Blacklist/Chicago Bulls/ Jabulani)

Matatu Culture is a heritage of Kenya and the government should not be quick to abolish this urbane matatu culture. In fact only safety needs to be improved to make our matatus more safe otherwise we should encourage and promote Nganya Awards
