Four people killed as an aircraft crash lands at airport

Four people died after an aircraft that was ferrying supplies to African Union Mission to Somalia (Amisom) troops burst into flames moments after crash-landing at the international airport inMogadishu.

Two others were rescued from the burning aircraft that had crew from Ethiopia. The aircraft crashed shortly after 8am Friday morning.

Amisom posted on its Twitter account that firefighters responded quickly and managed to save the two crew members who are currently being treated at theAmisom hospital in Mogadishu.

Amisom is a regional peacekeeping mission operated by the African Union with the approval of the United Nations.

The troops were deployed to Somalia to battle Islamist militant group Al Shabaab and regularly use theMogadishu airport.
