The Civil Society Organizations now want the Prime Minister Raila Odinga to drop his petition challenging the Presidential result of the just concluded general election where Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner, citing cost implication should the Prime Minister win his petition.
Speaking in Nairobi yesterday, Mr. Fazul Mohammed of International Policy Group cautioned that Kenyans could not afford to go for the second round of another election considering the grappling economic status of the country.
He noted that lots of cash to the tune of sh20 billion was spent by IEBC to conduct the just concluded general elections which left many businesses closed due to high political temperatures.
“Kenya cannot afford to take that risk again”, he said.
On his part, Mr. Ndolo Asasa of the National Civil Society Congress, called on the Prime Minister Raila Odinga to have Kenyans at heart and call off the petition, saying Kenyans needed to move on with their normal life and are tired of another grueling season of campaigns and elections. He said that another election will be a waste of the Kenyans tax payers’ money.
