Leaders form Luo Nyanza now blame voters from the region for Prime Minister Raila Odinga's loss in the General election.
Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga, Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga and MPs Jakoyo Midiwo (Gem) and Gideon Ochanda (Bondo) on Sunday said that failure of voters to show up in large numbers made him vulnerable in the contest.
The leaders had attended the funeral of Ms Selina Guda, mother to Founder of Kosewe Hotels in Nairobi, Mr William Osewe, in Rarieda.
Also in attendance was Mr Odinga and his wife Ms Odinga who blamed voters for selling their IDs before the election.
“Almost 50,000 votes were not cast in Kisumu alone because people sold their ID cards, and then women refused to vote,” Ms Odinga said.
However, Mr Odinga thanked the voters for turning out to vote. “You did well and I thank you for that, just know that the struggle is not over yet,” he said.
