KENYA ELECTION 2013 winners and Losers (provisional)

It is official Education Assistant Minister Ayiecho Olweny has been defeated in Muhoroni Constituency as his main opponent James Onyango Koyoo was propounced MP-elect.

Prof Ayiecho was trailing Onyango Koyoo of PDP for most of tallying time and when votes were all counted Koyoo emerged victorious with 29,964 votes, against Ayiecho’s 16,089. Barasa Edward Opiyo got 519 votes while Jonathan Ogada scored 569.

In neighbouring Nyando Constituency, outgoing MP Fred Outa survived by a whisker when he beat his opponent by ajust 743 votes after garnering 24,558 against Jared Okello of Ford Kenya who polled 23,815.

Muhoroni constituency has 61,119 registered voters, and Ayiecho has served the constituency for two terms.

He is one of the sitting MPs who faced heckling and jeering in the presence of Prime Minister RailaOdinga, as he campaigned for the presidency in Nyanza Province.

Koyoo, a businessman in Nairobi, contested in the last two General Elections for the Parliamentary seat unsuccessfully.

Nyando constituency has 52, 260 registered, and 97 polling stations.

In Kisumu Central Constituency, the race between Abdul Omar of Ford-Kenya and ODM’s Ken Obura is tight, with the latter being ahead by about 1000 votes.
