Former Speaker Kenneth Marende has failed to pay an upkeep of Sh457,000 for a child he sired four years ago.
This prompted the court to extend an order compelling him to do so.
Principal magistrate F Munyi extended the orders to April 9 to give Marende more time to pay Jennifer Nkowua Sh180,000 for school fees and related expenses, Sh90,000 for rent and Sh60,000 for clothing.
Marende was last week ordered to pay Sh100,000 for entertainment, Sh12,000 for the caregiver, Sh10,000 for electricity and Sh5,000 for water.
Lawyer Njagi Nyaboke, who is acting for Nkowua, was allowed by Munyi at the Milimani Court in Nairobi to file an application on April 9 to compel Marende to pay the money if he will not have done so.
“The respondent has not complied with the orders your honour. I pray to be allowed to file another application on the date compelling him to do so,” Nyaboke said.
