Wednesday March 13, 2013 - When Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner of just concluded Presidential election, the United States Secretary of State John Kerry reacted with unease in light of Kenyatta's criminal charges and Kenya's recent violence.

But the former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer has said the United States should take Kenyatta’s win with “cautious approach” since the Chinese and Indian governments are waiting to benefit most, if the fallout between Kenya and US continues.

Frazer, who worked with the Bush administration, was speaking to a Washington based think tank on Monday, where she said Uhuru Kenyatta’s win should be welcomed by the US government since the country is a strategic and an economic hub for Africa.

Frazer also warned US of “dire consequences” if the US continues to sideline Kenyatta under what she termed as a biased foreign policy.

She cited some Chinese presence in Africa saying the biggest roads in Kenya have been built by the Chinese government saying if US continues with its behavior towards Kenya, China and India will be the biggest beneficiaries.

On the International Criminal C0urt (ICC) cases, Frazer said the cases had a political angle and it is just a matter of time before the cases crumble.

She also congratulated President–elect Uhuru Kenyatta by saying “the voice of the people is the voice of God”
