Constable Fred Rotich committed suicide in unclear circumstances yesterday. The AP who was assigned to Tinderet Tea Estate is alleged to have jumped into a dam and drowned.
According to his immediate boss on that fateful day, the deceased had complained of feeling unwell and was given a day off to rest and feel better.
He said that he was shocked after the police called to inform him of his death.
Nandi South OCPD, Waithera Kipsoi, confirmed the death saying that investigations were underway. She also noted that suicide cases had risen amongst police officers and urged those concerned to look into the matter.
The body was taken to Nandi District Hospital Mortuary.
