Dear Dr. Kidero,
I pray you find time to read this sir. Having waited and watched your 1st debate with Hon.Ferdinand Waititu, please allow me to make a few points that might help you. I have been campaigning for you since & will continue doing so, I will also be voting for you as Nairobi Governor.Sir, please listen to my sober analysis, Waititu did better than youn in the debate. And it is in the very
simple reasons. He speaks the language of the common man who are the majority voters. I will tell
you why & how.
1. He talked about basics & basic needs for the poor from the get go, you on the other hand talked about
collecting garbage & making Nairobi a world class city!! Basics means a lot to the common mwanainchi
as its all about improving their lives.Cleaning up the city & garbage would resonate well for an investor &
the rich but for mwanainch some of whom live on collecting garbage it means a different thing all together.
2. Tap into your childhood & upbringing in Majengo slums. Your life then & how you strived against all
those odds to change your life & your family's (Which you intend to do for all the children & dwellers of
Nairobi- Let this be your message of hope & promise for the poor & their children) Show the voters your
struggles, all the basic you lacked and why you believe everyone in Nairobi deserve better & will get
better with you as Governor.
3. Waititu talks about how he has fought against land grabbers, Laud him for that! Tell the voters you would
never let any public land be grabbed under your watch too!! (or will you?) Only that you wouldn't encourage
people to take law into their own hands & throw stones but you are ready to lead protest against such
ills!! But doing so within the law, without hurting others, risking their lives or calling for other tribes to be
chased from any place in Nairobi/Kenya. Talk about empowering people to know their rights, using
our improved & independent judicial institutions to ensure that we uproot corruption & the many other ills.
Empowering youths & communities to stand up against any oppression & impunity. Talk of siding
with the people against forces of impunity.
4.Talk about slums, talk to voters why you want every slum to have basic needs especially water, security &
healthcare, free education for all. Talk of ensuring that all slum dwellers are not taken advantage of by
tycoons, talk of allowing such communities to come up with their own homegrown solutions in solving their
issues & building onto such solutions. How? By providing access to equal opportunities for their
children, building good community schools with all the needed basic requirements that would make them be
competitive, creating more & equal opportunities for the under privileged, building access roads, bringing
basic needs like fire fighting services to them, making them your priority as opposed to focussing on the rich
who can access all that!!!
5. Waititu talks of fighting land grabbers, let people know its all theatrics though, for how does he fight his
friends whom he worked with in the council, he sat in committees where the land grabbers also sat and
allocated themselves land. He is an insider, paint him for who he is!
6. Please please don't mention GDP, South Korea or Singapore, China, Rwanda, Burundi!!
The common guy does not care much about that!! Say that in cocktails parties & meetings with middle class, the rich & investors. To the mwanainchi talk about Mathare, Kawangware, Kibera, Mukuru, how you feel
for the people there because you came from such background, identify their suffering, their
lack of basics & how you intend to improve that!! Be one of them.
7. About making Nairobi a first class city & bringing investments, collecting garbage, building polytechnics
& all.... do that once you are elected sir. My sincere & free advice. Your voter,
by David Thuku
