Man arrested for fatally shooting girlfriend

A Texas man killed his girlfriend after his gun accidentally fired as he was fighting with another man, police reported.
Whiskey Dalton Welcome Williams, 20, allegedly shot Ashley Walters, 21, in the face when his weapon went off during a fight at his Denton home Wednesday afternoon.Walters, from Corinth, was rushed to hospital but died from her injuries - a gunshot wound to her face and neck - the following day.
Denton police officer Shane Kizer told the Star-Telegram that a man, with a group of friends, turned up at Williams' home.Williams, who felt threatened, pulled out his handgun. "The man hit Williams' arm and at some point the gun fired," Kizer added.
Walters' death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office, and Williams was arrested shortly after the shooting. He was initially booked on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, but now faces a charge of manslaughter. He is being held at Denton County Jail on $100,000 bond.
Williams, who also goes by the name of Bubba, is said to have a criminal history - being arrested four times since November 2011 on marijuana possession charges.
