Regional Development Minister Fred Gumo has officially entered the Nairobi Senatorial race, where he will compete with flamboyant Makadara MP Mike Sonko for Nairobi Senate seat.Speaking at Kilimani Primary School in Nairobi after he registered as voter on Friday, Gumo who is also the Westlands lawmaker said his 20 years in parliament made him the most suitable for the job.
“With my experience, I have what it takes to meet the expectations of the people of Nairobi,” Gumo said, adding that he will vie on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
He also urged Nairobians to register in large numbers so as to be able to choose their destiny in the next five years.
“Don’t just complain about bad leaders. Do something. Bad leaders are chosen by good citizens who don’t vote. Register as voter to elect leaders of your choice,” the Minister said.
The Minister will battle out with Mike Sonko who has also thrown his hat in ring for the senate seat on a TNA ticket.
