Uhuru Kenyatta's Office Denounces Alliance Deal with William Ruto

It was earlier reported that Kenya Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta (TNA) and Eldoret MP William Ruto (URP) struck a coalition deal, which would see the pair run on a joint ticket, with Uhuru Kenyatta as the presidential candidate and William Ruto as his running mate. Munyori Buku, Director of Communication at the office of Deputy Prime Minister, later sent a press statement disputing that the two had reached a coalition deal.
A earlier message by Munyori Buku read: “The two leaders have agreed on an alliance whose goals will be national unity, prosperity for all Kenyans, reconciliation and offers a definite and clear roadmap of making Kenya an economic powerhouse in the region, Africa and the world in the next decade.”
He later released the following statement, in which he stated that negotiations are stll on-going:
"I want to clarify that the earlier statement that the Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North Mp William Ruto have reached a deal was inaccurate.
The fact is that negotiations are still going on and when a deal is reached, it will be the prerogative of the party principals to announce it.
However, the joint rally at the Afraha Grounds, Nakuru, will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 as earlier communicated and details of the arrangements will be announced later.
I apologize for the earlier communication.
Munyori Buku,
Director of Communications,
Office of DPM."
