Nominated MP Rachel Shebesh and Marakwet East
MP Lina Chebii Kilimo on Friday officially joined Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s
party The National Alliance (TNA).
In a colorful ceremony at
the Bomas of Kenya dubbed “Uhuru women’s conference”, the two MPs who have
defected from ODM, said they have decided to join TNA because they both believe
in the party.
“I believe in TNA because
TNA believes in me. No one will go anywhere if the heart is not at peace,”
Shebesh who is eyeing for Nairobi women’s representative seat on a TNA ticket said.
She said she joined the
party because it favours women, the physically challenged and the youth.
“My heart is at peace
because I now belong to the party by choice,” she said.
On her part, Kilimo said
she joined the party because her constituents advised her to.
“I consulted my people and
I was advised to join the party of peace which is TNA,” Kilimo said.
Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed the two MPs and urged
other members willing to join the party to do so.
“TNA belongs to Kenyans and its doors are open
for everyone willing to join it and serve the nation,” Uhuru said.
