If you are in NAIROBI town avoid Tom Mboya Street ….. NOW

The Kenyan DAILY POST understands that a group of hawkers are currently protesting along Nairobi’s Tom Mboya Street. From the information we are getting, the protest started peacefully and then degenerated into a messy affair prompting riot police to intervene.

The riot police have reportedly lobbed tear gas canisters at the hawkers in an effort to disperse them. The hawkers are now engaged in running battles with the police officers. There is no word yet on whether there have been any arrests.
The situation is making life difficult for motorist using Tom Mboya Street as they are risking getting their vehicles damaged by projectiles being thrown from either side.
