A month ago a 17 year old girl was arrested by police in Embakasi for disrupting peace and neglecting her 8 month old baby at a company in Embakasi. The girl alleged that she had traveled to Nairobi from Webuye in search of the father of her child.
The form two drop out claimed that the man impregnated her and moved to Nairobi in search of greener pastures. He left her at the mercies of her parents who had chased her away. According to her all she needs is for the man to take up his responsibility.
She however caused havoc at the company as she demanded to see the man and refused to leave the company’s gate till she sees him. Police arrested her on August 15th and arraigned her in court two days later. She pleaded guilty to the charges of negligence and admitted to not feeding and cleaning the young baby.
Yesterday a Makadara court heard her case and cleared her of the charges since she was a first time offender. Her child was taken to a children’s home and maybe reunited with the mother when she becomes financially stable.
Efforts to reach the man have since then been futile since he has switched off his phone.
