Thursday, September 06, 2012 - Controversy and confusion has arisen in Nyakach, Kisumu County after police decry what residents claim is a fit of injustice. A 28 year old woman was two months ago killed by unknown people and buried in unknown location but residents claim to have solved the puzzle.

According to residents the woman who worked at a shop at Kondong’a trading centre was killed and her death concealed by being buried in one of the homes in Kodong’a village. Apparently a co-worker is linked to the killing and police have held him for questioning alongside four more suspects.

Over 20 police officers have been posted at a home in the village to pay vigil against villagers who want to torch the home and unbury the woman’s body.

Contrary to the allegations Nyakach OCPD Dismus Wanjala said they have arrested one man and not four as alleged. Wanjala further added that there are no officers posted at the home and they are yet to unbury to woman’s body even after receiving a court order because they do not know the specific location or home where she was buried.

Residents however have caused havoc in the area as they launched a demonstration accusing police of laxity and jeopardizing justice. They also warned officers that despite the heavy security at the home they will storm it and unbury the woman’s body.
