SHAMELESS THIEVES: Accident victims ROBBED cash and valuable in Kitale

More than sh 50,000 was robbed from three hawkers and a student when a motorist lost control and rammed into the structure where they were chilling in Kitale town.

Some youths pretending to be good Samaritans ransacked their pockets and fled instead of helping them to get to the nearest hospital. The motorist whose name is Wilson Kibet was leaving a bus terminus when the brakes jammed.

The victims included Kevin Wanjala, Wycliffe Wafula, Johnson Macheti and Sylvester Pamba, who sustained a deep cut on the head. They were taken to hospital by Kitale acting base commander Peter Munene where some are were treated and released while others are still recuperating.

Munene confirmed that criminals posing as rescuers took the opportunity and stole from the victims; however no arrests have been made.

During the accident, several hawkers near Nyayo market lost their good to criminals.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter and have also vowed to conduct a crackdown on un-roadworthy vehicles to minimize accidents.
