A 17 year old form two student from Baringo was yesterday arraigned in court in connection with the rape of a 78 year old woman in the area. According to the elderly woman, the teenager was her herd’s boy and he often came in the evening to milk the cows at her home in Marigat Township, Baringo County.
The court heard that on the day of the incident the boy came to the residence drunk and after milking the cows he turned against the elderly woman and raped her at her kitchen.
The woman raised alarm and residents flocked to the home arresting the teenager. He was however beaten severely by the irate mob and frog matched to Marigat police post.
Appearing before Kabarnet resident magistrate Evanson Bett the teenager pleaded not guilty and was released on a bond of Sh. 100,000.
The case will be heard again on September 13.
