A four year old girl was yesterday reported dead after she succumbed to injuries inflicted by her father while he was punishing her for allegedly refusing to take herbal concoction prescribed to her by a local medicine man.
According to the girl’s mother, Tabitha Ontiri she had gone to a nearby river to draw water when she arrived home to find her daughter tied up and struggling to breathe under a table.
On inquiring, Tabitha was informed by the other children that the girl had refused to take the bitter concoction and her father tied her legs, hands up and her mouth and whipped her severely. She later fell from the table as she tried to untie herself causing serious head injuries.
Ontiri reported the case to Gucha police station before rushing her daughter to Gucha Level Four Hospital where she died while on treatment.
Gucha OCPD Richard Ng’etich confirmed the incident and further added that they had arrested the girl’s father who will be arraigned in court for the charges of murder.
