a spy and a messenger in Ruto’s office, told Mwangi he had been sent by his boss, identified only as Mr Rono, to deliver the sensational letter to him.
According to court papers, the letter titled “Self confession”, names individuals believed to have had a hand in the May 5 assassination.
The businessman’s lifeless body was found in his car on Ngong Road near the Southern Bypass interchange.
Nyakundi was arraigned before senior principal magistrate Teresa Nyangena.
He was nabbed on November 30 and will remain in custody at the Kilimani police station following the successful request by police.
The court heard from the investigators that Nyakundi had demanded that the activist deposit an unspecified sum in his bank account so his boss Rono could reveal more details.
He would also provide a dossier to boost Mwangi’s defence in the defamation case filed against him by DP Ruto.
But his claims don’t end there as he also sensationally claimed that Rono was in possession of credible information that Mwangi could be murdered in a stage-managed traffic accident.
