A sombre mood engulfed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday morning as the body of former First Lady Lucy Kibaki arrived from London.
The plane carrying the body of the former First Lady from London where she had passed on Tuesday morning touched down at JKIA shortly after 5am.
Former president Mwai Kibaki was among those on board and was received by President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and several other government officials.
A short prayer was conducted for the late Lucy Kibaki, presided over by Father Dominic Wamugunda before the body was taken to Lee Funeral Home.
Funeral preparations of the Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki are underway.
