Princess started ailing in March 2014 and was diagnosed with Leukemia in September the same year. She started chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. Mr Macharia battled to save his only daughter's life.

He was refered to an Indian hospital. He organised a series of fundraisers and managed to raise some money to pay for a percentage of the funds used to send his daughter and her mother to India. Princess was undergoing treatment at Artemis Hospital in India but due to lack of funds, the two returned to the country in December 2015, having undergone required treatment sessions in India.
Princess later fell sick and was admitted at Kenyatta National Hospital where she died on February 26. She was buried on yesterday March 4, at her grandfather's farm in Kangaita Village, Kirinyaga County.
