But she may be shocked since Eritrean culture dictates that once a husband dies, the wife inherits all his property. Apparently, Fidel had already been converted to an Orthodox and this means that he had been absorbed into the Eritrean culture.
According to Eritrean culture, when a husband dies, the first person in line is the wife. Next comes the children, and in the absence of a will, his brothers become the heirs.
In the event that he has no brothers, the inheritance goes to his cousins. If the husband has not written a will, then his wife is entitled to all his property provided that she does not remarry. However, if she intends to remarry, she has to leave all the property to her children.
This means that Ida will not inherit any property from her late son. But does she care anyway? The Odinga family is filthy rich already. R.I.P Fidel.
