The senator who was spotted at a jewelry store located inside Nakumatt Lifestyle claims the chain cost Kshs 1.95 million and that it was an appreciation gift.
“First of all I didn’t not buy the chain from own pocket or from the public coffers. It was a simple gift from one of my friends. It cost Kshs 1.95 million. It was a token of appreciation after I oversaw a successful rescue of his family members who were caught up inside Westgate mall last year.I never asked him for anything and I was equally surprised by his gesture.” Sonko told The Star.
“Since then, we’ve become very good friends. He is among some other friends who appreciate me for helping others. So, this chain should not cause alarm on anything. It’s just a gift.” He added.
