First Lady during a training session
The plane carrying the First Lady and her entourage touched down at Heathrow Airport shortly before 7 am local time.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta`s wife, Margaret Kenyatta is expected to participate in the London marathon on April 13 to fund raise for a local charity.
Mrs. Kenyatta has been training at her residence at State House in Nairobi and has been receiving coaching sessions from with former London marathon winner, Douglas Wakiihuri.
The First Lady is participating in the marathon to raise awareness and funds for her ‘Beyond Zero Campaign’ which she launched on 24 January this year. The initiative is aimed at improving maternal and child health care in Kenya as well as accelerating implementation of the national plan towards the elimination of new HIV infections from mothers to children.
Women’s defending champion Kenya`s Priscah Jeptoo will also be featuring at the popular London Marathon.
Also dignitaries joining Mrs. Kenyatta are several members of United Kingdom who will be running for charity.
