Ellen DeGeneres‘ now famous Oscar selfie is apparently worth up to a billion dollars, according to a new report.
The comedienne took the photo during an impromptu moment while hosting the recent 2014 Academy Awards.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Publicis CEO Maurice Levy has valued the selfie at between $800 million and $1 billion.
Levy, whose company represents Samsung (including the phone used to take the picture), told a crowd at a recent advertising industry conference that his estimate is based on the number of times the photo was shared and seen via social media.
Including Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Lupita Nyong’o, the viral photo broke the Twitter record for the most retweeted photo of all time.
It was seen by 37 million people around the world, while the Oscars were watched by 43 million worldwide.
After the picture was posted to Twitter, the site experienced intermittent outages for around 20 minutes.
