Jennifer Lawrence has won the Golden Globe for best supporting actress in a movie on Sunday for her role in crime caper “American Hustle”.
The 23-year-old “Hunger Games” star’s prize was the first handed out at the 71st annual Globes.
She beat Sally Hawkins in “Blue Jasmine,”Kenya’s Lupita Nyong’o in “12 Years A Slave,” Julia Roberts in “August: Osage County” and June Squibb in “Nebraska”.
“Thank you. Oh, my God,” she said, before she thanked “American Hustle” director David O. Russell, who previously cast her in “Silver Linings Playbook” – the film for which she won her first Oscar last year.
“Winning this year, it’s an honour… I’m sorry I’m shaking so much. Don’t ever do this again! It’s so scary. Thank you, thank you.”
“American Hustle,” inspired by an FBI sting operation in the 1970s known as ABSCAM, saw Lawrence playing the troubled and tormented wife of a New York scam artist played by Christian Bale.
The film is up for a best comedy motion picture Golden Globe, as are Bale and Amy Adams for best actor and best actress in a comedy film.
