Moses Wetangula has retained his Bungoma senatorialseat. This after provisional results from all 942 polling stations had him winning with 149,458 (63.73%) votes. He ran on a Ford-Kenya ticket, which is part of the ODM coalition. His closest challenger, Musikari Kombo of the Amani Coalition came in second with 81,016 votes, followed by David Makali (an independent candidate) with 2,155 votes and Bifwoli Wakoli (LPK) with 1,899 votes.
The Bugoma senate seat fell vacant on September 30 after High Court judge Francis Gikonyo nullified Wetangula’s election, citing numerous instances of voter bribery, double registration and interference of vote tallying.
