Kenyan Pastors React to NTV's Expose on Extortionist Pastors

A group of pastors wants the government to review upcoming churches and their leaders with the aim of weeding out those extorting money from unsuspecting followers.

The Kenya National Congress of Pentecostal Churches on Tuesday called on governmental agencies to vet such churches and if need be, ask them to re-register to meet stipulated requirements.

“The true men and women of God will have to be separated from the false ones and we call upon the government to work with KNCPC to weed out these false prophets of doom in this country,” Bishop Stephen Ndicho of the Cathedral of Praise said in a statement he read on behalf of the group.

KNCPC, which also wants foreign preachers vetted before they are allowed to evangelise in the country, warned Kenyans against paying pastors or preachers any money in order to be prayed for or for the purpose of receiving a miracle.

The pastors, who addressed a press briefing in a Nairobi hotel, were reacting to a NTV exposé of a pastor who asks for money before praying for his congregants.

The pastor was seen urging them to plant ‘seeds’ of Sh310 in order to get God’s attention.
