The woman who lost her husband and mother to an apparent-murder suicide is thanking people for their support during the tragedy.

Three days after the deaths of her family members Jennifer Muriu posted a message on the Facebook page for the Spitfire Restaurant that she owned with her husband Ian Muriu. The message also included a photograph of him and her mother Diana Freeman who were killed July 29 at their Bethlehem home.

“My LOVE Ian and my MOM will ALWAYS be in my heart and are truly missed so… much,” Jennifer Muriu wrote. “We were so….excited to buy the Spitfire Restaurant and had so….many hopes and dreams. We appreciated all of our guests and we were happy you all were becoming our friends.Thank you.”

Authorities said Friday that the investigation into the deaths is ongoing but signs still point to Ian Muriu shooting his mother-in-law before turning the gun on himself.

Deputies were called to the Walton Drive home by Jennifer Muriu who left after hearing him fire shots. Inside authorities found the 66-year-old Freeman and Muriu dead.

In January the couple purchased the restaurant located in the Barrow County Airport from family friends. Since the tragedy numerous family members, friends and customers have posted messages of condolences on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Barrow County Airport Authority Chairman Scott Miller also sent a message of support to those affected.

“Our airport community is shocked and saddened of the tragic news concerning Ian and Jennifer,” Miller said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who are burdened with the loss of loved ones.”
