Widow Haniya Saida Saggar said the government was aware of the alleged plot to assassinate her husband over allegation that he was funding and supporting al Shabaab in Kenya.
In an exclusive interview with the Star on the phone yesterday, Saggar recounted the last moments before Rogo was executed by gunmen who sprayed his van with bullets.
“He knew that they were after him after a foiled kidnap attempt on his ally Sheikh Sharrif Makaburi in Nairobi early last year,” she said. Haniya said the family has not recovered from the ordeal.
“Since then my husband had been under the watch of the Kenya security agencies until the day he met his death, She said her son Khubeid Rogo 17 is always being followed by anti- terrorism police since the death of his father.
“My son has undergone mental torture, he was arrested on November 12 when police officers raided their home. I don’t know if they want to execute him like they did to his father. We are living in fear,” said Haniya.
The family has dismissed the formation of a public inquest to further probe the murder. They termed it “a mere scapegoat and a waste of public funds”.
Muslim for Human Rights accused the government of engaging in extra judicial killing. Muhuri acting director Rahma Gullam Abbas demanded the government to release reports on terror suspects allegedly murdered by the government agencies.
“We want information about Samir Khan who disappeared mysterious before his body was found dumped at Tsavo National park,” he said.
