Who was Mutula Kilonzo? Many have described him as zealous, hardworking and a man who spoke his mind, when he wore his business suit that is. But every weekend when Mutula took time off to retreat to his rural home in Maanzoni just kilometers from Machakos town, he would retreat into a cocoon that saw him spend hours alone if not with his favorite pastime, his lions and other wild animals that he kept. Evelyn Wambui visited his Maanzoni home tucked deep inside the bushes and retraces his final moments and how those close to him remember him.
