Kenyan runners dominate Belgrade Marathon

Over ten thousand recreational runners participated in the five kilometer race dubbed Fun Run.

The race was officially opened by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dačić, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert and Belgrade City Assembly Speaker Aleksandar Antić.

The starting signal was fired by legendary U.S. track and field athlete Carl Lewis.

Kenyan Edwin Kiplagat Kiptum won the men’s marathon, clocking 2:19.30. His fellow Kenyans Eliud Kibet Kirui was second in 2:24:40, while Boash Mayaka finished third in 2:30:42.

Serbia’s best long-distance runner Olivera Jevtić won the women’s race, clocking 2:36.09.
