Immediate former Mathira MP Ephraim Maina is currently swimming in murky waters after he was accused of defacing his competitor’s posters.
After pouring a lot of money in the just concluded party primaries, Maina, who is the owner of Kirinyaga Construction Company, reportedly hired a gang of youth to go around the Nyeri County vandalising and defacing his rival’s election posters.
At one point, the flamboyant ex-lawmaker was spotted and even captured on camera defacing and tearing down some of the posters. The photographs are expected to be delivered to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) by some voters who want him disqualified.
Maina is contesting the Nyeri County senate seat on The National Alliance (TNA) ticket.
The case will be heard on Saturday at the IEBC offices, Nairobi.
