The government has ordered all 52 Ambassadors and High Commissioners serving in Kenya's foreign embassies to report back to Nairobi within one week.
Head of Public Service Francis Kimemia issued the directive on Sunday, explaining that it is part of reforms in Kenya's foreign policy by the new government.
Charge de Affairs and Deputy Ambassadors are to remain in charge of Kenya's foreign missions in the interim period as President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto forge a new diplomatic structure.
"The Charge de Affairs, Deputy Ambassadors and Deputy High Commissioners will look after the affairs of the stations until further notice," said Mr Kimemia.
