Kenya's Supreme court Judges ready for CORD reader Raila Odinga’s petion
CORD reader Raila Odinga’s petion will of course redefine our judiciary system as far as judicially independence is concerned.
Many authors have argued that CJ Mutun ga and Justice Njoki Ndungu may rule favoring their ‘men’.
Dann Mwangi in his opinion letter to the The Standard of March 20 argued that Mutunga was not suitable to sit on the bench in the two petitions.
Mr Mwangi refers to the biography of Mr Odinga by Nigerian writer Babafemi Badejo in which Dr Mutunga is quoted as admiring the Prime Minister’s leadership, and expressing the hope that Kenyans can unite behind his presidential bid.
Citing Miguna Miguna’s book Kidneys for the King, Mutunga is quoted again for having a soft spot on Raila. Chief justice is quoted as saying that Raila will be a unifying factor in Kenya societies in general if elected president.
Justice Njoki Ndungu in her case, pundits argue that she served as a high profile nominated mp in the 9th parliament. She was also in the PNU campaign in 2007 where she worked with Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.
Time will tell when the petition will be tabled in the Supreme Court.
