Religious leaders have ordered Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) to remove the "Weka Condom Mpangoni" advert. The leaders say it will promote immorality in families as it openly agitates for extra marital affairs and sex among children.
“There are better ways of passing useful information to the society. It creates immorality, especially when members of families are gathered around television sets waiting to watch news,” said Bishop Julius Kalu the Anglican Church of Kenya Mombasa Dioceses.
“The advertisement depicts this nation as Sodom and Gomorra and not one that values the institution of marriage and family,” said Sheikh Mohammed Khalifa CIPK organising secretary.
A Muslim activist said the commercial was promoting multiple relationships. The Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) asked media houses to consider their moral values before accepting any adverts.
