However a pacemaker-like device put into her bowel to regulate her movements, could help in her recovery. When she had a trial of how the machine works she says she felt better and normal for the first time in a very long time.
Since the trial she has been told she can have the operation to have the device fitted permanently in her abdomen. The device Known as neurostimulator is surgically implanted in the right side of the abdomen.
She is now only waiting on NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the body that funds operations for people living in the city, to confirm when or where it will take place.
