President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned CORD against raising political tension even as they challenge the presidential election in the court.

He said while it was within the rights of CORD led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga to seek legal redress, it would be wrong to raise political temperatures when Kenyans have moved on from the electioneering mood.

The President-elect, who was addressing members of the business community under the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa), warned against disrupting the peace witnessed since the declaration of results.

“We are not opposed to anyone using legal means because that is their constitutional rights but let them not raise political temperatures,” said Uhuru, accompanied by Deputy President-elect William Ruto and coalition partner Najib Balala.

He added: “The time for politics is over, its time to develop this country and bring everyone together for this noble duty. That is why we are reaching out even to our former competitors urging them to join us in nation building.”

He said his team was already making plans to create structures of the Government, irrespective of the petition challenging their victory.

Uhuru said they will partner with religious leaders in national cohesion and integration process to heal the nation after the divisions witnessed during the campaigns.

The Jubilee leaders promised to work with the private sector to ensure wealth creation and improve the livelihood of Kenyans.

Uhuru urged Kepsa to appoint one person within the business community who will be based in the Office of the President to champion the interest of investors. Meanwhile, Turkey, Qatar and Sudan became the latest countries to recognise Uhuru’s election, with congratulatory messages.
